With summer break here, the Board of Trustees for the Bridgeland Water Agency (BWA) would like to remind residents that they have access to free vacation watch services through the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office.
While you're away enjoying some well-deserved summer relaxation, Precinct 5 deputies will patrol your neighborhood and keep a watchful eye on your home—at no cost to you.
🌴 How to Request a Vacation Watch
Bridgeland residents can complete the online form to request a vacation watch by clicking here (form must be completed on a desktop). When submitting your request, please be prepared to provide the following information:
Lights: Will you leave any lights on?
Pets: Are there pets staying in the home?
Alarm System: Do you have an alarm system, and will it be armed?
Authorized Visitors: Will anyone be entering your home while you’re away?
Vehicles: Will any vehicles be parked at your home?
Emergency Contact: Who can be contacted if you cannot be reached?
Be sure to update the Constable’s Office if your travel plans change or if someone new will be coming by your home.
⏰ Submit your request at least 3 days prior to your departure. If your departure is sooner, you may still submit the form online, but call the dispatch line at (281) 463-6666 to ensure your request is expedited.
🏠 Tips to Keep Your Home Safe While You’re Away
- Notify Your Alarm Company: Let them know you'll be out of town and list the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office as the primary contact.
- Use Light Timers: Set timers to turn lights on and off randomly. This gives the impression that someone is home.
- Leave a Car in the Driveway: An empty driveway can signal no one's home—leave a vehicle (with no valuables) parked there.
- Pet Arrangements: Make sure your pets are well cared for. Leave detailed instructions, vet info, and emergency contacts with your pet sitter or boarding facility.
- Hire a House Sitter: If possible, have someone stay at your house to make it appear lived in.
- Hold Your Mail: Place a hold on your mail through USPS to keep it from piling up. Learn more about USPS Hold Mail.
- Emergency Contact Info: Leave a backup contact with the Constable’s Office just in case.
