The following information is provided as a guidance on collection rules and procedures. Ultimately each of the 7 MUDs (Municipal Utility Districts) in Bridgeland® are responsible for their garbage and recycling needs. See your MUDs website for service days.
REPUBLIC SERVICES COLLECTION PROTOCOL FOR BRIDGELAND® RESIDENTS
TRASH COLLECTION
- Frequency: Twice per week
- Container: 96-gallon Republic Services Trash Cart only
RECYCLING COLLECTION
- Frequency: Weekly on Wednesday
- Container: 96-gallon Republic Services Recycling Cart only
- Important: Recycling carts may not be used for trash. Carts containing trash will not be serviced. Recycling is only collected on Wednesdays.
HEAVY TRASH & YARD WASTE COLLECTION
- Frequency: Weekly on Wednesday
GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR ALL COLLECTIONS
- Place all items curbside by 7:00 a.m.
- Keep carts at least 5 feet away from mailboxes, parked cars, trees, and other objects to ensure safe collection.
- Cart lids must be fully closed.
- Important: If the truck cannot access your street due to parked vehicles or other obstructions, collection may be missed.
HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

- New Year’s Day

HEAVY/ BULK TRASH and YARD WASTE COLLECTION - Weekly on Wednesday
Up to 2 appliances or bulky items and up to 6 bags or bundles of yard waste per collection day
Acceptable Heavy Trash Items:
- Household Appliances – Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners must have Freon drained and tagged accordingly by a certified technician.
- Hot water heaters must be drained.
- Live Christmas trees. Ornaments, tinsel, and lights to be removed.
- Furniture. Mattresses. Box springs. Broken down cardboard moving boxes.
- Grills must be emptied of ash or briquettes. No propane tanks. No toilets. No storm debris.
Packing Peanuts:
Packing peanuts won’t be collected loose - must be bagged. Drivers will not clean up packing peanut spills.
Yard Waste:
Bush and tree trimmings cut in lengths not to exceed 4 feet, no greater than 2 inches in diameter, securely tied in bundles, not to exceed 50 lbs. All grass clippings, and leaves must be bagged. No storm debris.
RECYCLING COLLECTION - Weekly on Wednesday

- Newspapers
- Junk Mail
- Tin and Steel Cans
- Aluminum Cans
- Office and School Paper
- Cardboard - broken down
- Plastics 1, 2 and 5
- Glass jars/bottles
- Cereal and Food Boxes
âś“ Remove food/liquids and rinse recyclables before putting them into the recycling cart.
âś“ Do not put recyclables in a plastic bag before putting them into the recycling cart.
✓ Do not put in the recycling cart anything that is not listed above…no plastic bags, clothing, rubber hoses, etc.
âś“ Do not put yard waste in your recycling cart.
